CORONA HIGHLANDS

BOUNDARIES:

Pacific Coast Highway, Buck Gully and the Ocean Course North at Pelican Hill Golf Course.

HISTORY:

One of the first view neighborhoods built in Corona del Mar, the original homes were considered custom built for the time and built in the craftsmanship style during the late 1940’s and early 1950s.

HOMES:

There are about 140 R-1 lots and 50 R-2 lots in the Highlands. The R-2 lots are located in the lower areas of the Highlands with the R-1 lots in the higher area as view potential becomes greater. Dependent on the location, several homes have either ocean, canyon or golf course views or a combination of the three. Due to original height restrictions to control building density and ensure ocean views, most homes started as one story ranch structures with some exceptions. While there are still quite a few original homes, there are several homes that have been remodeled or rebuilt.

FEATURES:

There is use of limited gated access to beaches through a voluntary association. This is a quiet community within easy walking distance to beaches and shopping in Olde Corona del Mar.

SCHOOLS:

Children living in the community attend Harbor View Elementary or Corona del Mar, Junior and Senior High School.

SHOPPING:

The community is close to restaurants and shops in Olde Corona del Mar, Fashion Island and Balboa Island. Laguna Beach is a short drive south along Pacific Coast Highway.
