Balboa Island is situated on Newport Bay south
of mainland Newport Beach and north of Balboa Peninsula. |

| HISTORY: |
In 1902, W.S. Collins and A.C. Hansen bought Robert McFadden’s
land holding in Newport Beach, including the marshy area to
become Balboa Island.
Balboa Island is actually three islands: The Big Island, Little
Island, And Collins Island. |

| HOMES: |
There are about 1,459 parcels on Balboa Island, of which
a percentage are waterfronts. |

| STYLE: |
The homes on the Island are a wonderful combination of
old beach cottages and newer homes. |

| FEATURES: |
A village atmosphere is prevalent with every necessity
within easy walking distance. Balboa Island has a post office,
fire station, church and park on the island, quaint shops
and restaurants. This is a community of traditions, from old-fashioned
parades down Marine Avenue to holiday home tours. Sailing
and summer fun are organized for children through the Balboa
Island Yacht Club. Local residents and the Garden Club have
made this island a blooming seaside paradise.
The island is surround by sandy bay beaches, a walkers/joggers
trail that stretches two and one-half miles, and five public
docks. Balboa Island is easily accessible by ferry service
to the Peninsula and by a bridge to the mainland. |

Children attend Lincoln Elementary, Corona del Mar Junior
and High School. |

| SHOPPING: |
Balboa Island is filled with a variety of quaint shops,
most of which are concentrated along Marine Avenue. Additionally,
there are stores on the peninsula and Fashion Island is just
a few minutes away. |
